What Leads To Success?

Man leaps in air above stone steps, above village (By: Philip and Karen Smith)

“It is astonishing what an effort it seems to be for many people to put their brains definitely and systematically to work.”
-Thomas Edison

Kicked out from school for being easily distracted, lost nearly all of his hearing at a young age, sold candy and newspapers aboard trains as a youth and then won a position as telegraph operator when he saved a station agent’s son from being run over by a train.

Guess who?

Thomas Alva Edison, 1847-1931 (By:SuperStock)

THOMAS EDISON:

The American inventor, scientist, and businessman who developed many devices that greatly influenced life around the world, including the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and a long-lasting, practical electric light bulb.
Edison is considered one of the most prolific inventors in history, holding 1,093 US patents in his name, as well as many patents in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.

After reading this inspirational story, there is a question that I would like to ask: What leads to success? What are the keys for success?

If you don’t have the answers Richard St. John has it in one of the most powerful talks in TED

If you are in a room of successful people, don’t be afraid. Trust Allah then use the keys of success to keep yourself on track.

SMART Vs. SAFE, Who is the Winner?

"If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, liberates your energy, and inspires your hopes"
-Andrew Carnegie

Having a goal is usual, but having a powerful process for goal setting is unusual.

Today’s battle is not between Pittsburgh and Arizona to win the super bowl instead the battle is between SMART and SAFE goal setting criteria.

SMART set successful goals with objective and resolutions while SAFE use the power of law of attraction to achieve goals.

SMART is not the only way and may not even be the best way to set your goals, but SMART goal setting has some definite benefits. The SMART acronym stands for: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time.

SAFE combines the best aspects of SMART with the power of the Law of Attraction. SAFE stands for: See your goal, Accept it, Feel it with emotion, and Express it.

If you choose SMART, so you will dive through those items:

Specific: The goal should be described as specifically as possible. A goal of studying software is not specific. A goal of studing a second language is not specific, studing english or french,... is specific just choose the language type and go on.
Measurable: the effective goal must be measurable. working harder at your job are not measurable as stated so you must identify some aspects of working hard like spending more time to study new thing in your work.
Achievable: There's an art to goal setting that revolves around the goal's difficulty. A goal too easy is not energizing. A goal too difficult seems hopeless. Both too easy and too difficult are goal setting no-no's. Set the level of challenge somewhere in between. A good way to decide that a goal is achievable but challenging is to make a vision board.
Realistic: Do you have the knowledge and skills to reach your goal? If yes, go on. If not, so begin your way by gathering this information to make your goal be within the availability of resources, knowledge and time.
Time: Setting a deadline provides necessary positive tension to give you the energy to get on with it. The time frame you select should be realistic also.

On the other hand If you will follow the SAFE criteria you will have those items:

See it: Picture the future as it will be when your goal is achieved. See it in great detail and full color.
Accept it: Accept means that you open yourself to attaining the goal AND you are 100% certain that it will occur.
Feel it: Goal attainment is more about attracting what we want than chasing what we want. Attraction is strengthened by combining the mental power of thinking about the goal (seeing and accepting) with the emotional power of the feelings you'll have when the goal is achieved.
Express it: Draw it, paint it, write it . Place your writing and pictures where you'll see them every day.

Choose between SMART or SAFE...

“Obstacles are those things you see when you take your eyes off the goal.”
- Hannah More

A lot of people think that they have no purpose in life, and a lot of people let themselves as a prey to despair and frustration because they don’t know their actual mission in life.

Every person in the globe has a mission in life and he will reach it sooner or later but it is a must to have patience and determination.
Challenges and obstacles are found everywhere but the issue is how to overcome them.
And let me prove to you how you are very precious to Allah through the story of a real challenger in life; he is Nicholas Vujicic (pronounced Voy-a-chich).

Born in 1982 in Melbourne, Australia, without any medical explanation or warning, Nick came into the world with neither arms nor legs but his mission is to inspire and motivate people and touching lives all over the world. He said:
“…Faced with countless challenges and obstacles, God has given me the strength to surmount what others might call impossible. Along with that, the Lord has placed within me an unquenchable passion to share this same hope and genuine love that I've personally experienced with more than two million people all over the globe.”

You also have a purpose in life. You are very precious.

"Champions are made, NOT born."

-Scotty Kessler

Today I have got a message from one of my friends; she was remembering me that it is the first day in the last month in the year.
I thought for a while, yes it is the last month in 2010. A year in my journey in life is about to pass. For that, I want to ask you; were you a challenger in this year?

 Challenger?!

According to the Enneagram of Personality, a challenger is a personality type which describes the traits and character of such person.
This person has a great self-confident. And he understands that nothing will come easy to him, instead he has to make great effort to succeed and never gave up on his dreams.

The best thing in challengers is that they are self- mastering, they use their strength to improve others' lives, becoming heroic, magnanimous, and inspiring.

If you want to be a challenger you must be a self-reliant and have the ability to prove your strength and resist weakness.

Let’s see some sort of challengers throughout the world.

Be a Challenger…

Bedouin Man Praying (By: Frans Lemmens )

"When you carrying a monster load
And you wonder how far you can go
With every step on that road that you take
Allah knows
Allah knows"
-Allah Knows Nashid by Zain Bhikha

Turning your goals into achievements has secrets. Your belief pattern is one of these secrets. If you want to touch the sky, if you want to stand on mountains and to walk on stormy seas just trust Allah.

Rick Hoyte, and his father weren't have a magical stick that achieved their goals instead they have a great inner BELIEF that they can achieve everything they want. Rick's doctors gave up on him when he was born, but his inner belief turned him into a cross-country athlete who sprinting, cycling and swimming his way to over 631 finish lines in the past 20 years.

We also must have this inner belief to achieve what we want. When your belief is as the same way you breathe, you will hold the key for your breakthrough in life.

Every step we make in our life Allah knows it. So if you put a purpose in life you must trust in Allah, you must have an inner belief that Allah is the only one who can help you through your way. Allah put every rule for us to live a better life. If you take Allah’s commands as a way of life you will never lost. As Allah said in the Quran:
“…God will find a way out for those who are mindful of Him, and will provide for them from an unexpected source; God will be enough for those who put their trust in Him. God achieves His purpose; God has set a due measure for everything”
-Surah 65: 2-3 (translated by: M. A. S. Abdel Haleem)

The next step after believing is trusting yourself; be confident that as long as Allah is with you, you can achieve the impossible, you can path any setback or obstacle.

I want to share this video with you never give up in life as long as you trust Allah

What is Your Ultimate Goal?

Man holds arms outstretched on mountain summit (By: Philip and Karen Smith)

“You have to find something that you love enough to be able to take risks, jump over the hurdles, and break through the brick walls that are always going to be placed in front of you. If you don’t have that kind of feeling for what it is you’re doing, you’ll stop at the first giant hurdle”
-George Lucas
A lot of people in this universe have a dream or let us call it a goal in life because many people think that dreams may not come true. Anyway, after our discussion about the vision board I expect that many of you have made one.

Our ultimate goal shapes our life, shapes our journey in this universe. So if you have an ultimate goal and a great passion, creativity, enthusiasm, charisma, inspiration and much more you can be an extraordinary person with extraordinary abilities.
It seems that you didn’t trust me, isn’t it?
Ok, let me explain with real examples. We will review together some great names in business, sports, media...etc and we will see how they create a goal in the life to be as such famous as we know.

Do you know Stephan J. Cannell? He was a dyslexic with a failing English grades. Now with his unstoppable imagination he becomes a famous television producer, writer, novelist and occasional actor.
And do you know also that Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, and Hans Christian Anderson were a dyslexic too.

If you surfed the internet about Hoyt team, Rick Hoyt and his father Dick, you will find an unbelievable story about a quadriplegic in a wheelchair, competing in marathons, triathlons, and even in the famously grueling Ironman race.

The common in the above characters is that they have a goal. And they believe that they can achieve their ultimate goal in life.

And let me share with you a video about “Goal Setting Miracles”:

So let us express our ultimate goal and share it with others either here on the blog or with your family, relatives, friends.

Touch your Dreams with a Pen & Paper

Girl lying on balcony colouring picture (By: Andre Lichtenberg )

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”
- Harriet Tubman

Through my discussion with Maha in the previous article, she told me that she want to be free while achieving her dreams and I advised her to make a vision board about her dreams.

But what is a vision board?

According to John Assaraf, in his book, “The Complete Vision Board Kit”:

A vision board is a way of creating clarity around the life you want to create for yourself. By choosing a series of powerful, meaningful images and affixing them to a display that you look at multiple times every day, you focus your attention on what matters to you most and make that your destination.
Making a vision board helps you attract into your life things that you want to have, to experience, to achieve, or to become.

And this exactly what we need while thinking in our goals. We need to touch our dreams with a pen and a paper, to write down our goals and purposes in life and draw our dreams.

By writing down your dreams, goals or purposes in life, you can feel them with your hands and you encourage your mind to pursue them by giving your mind a message telling it nothing is impossible.

“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”
-Walt Disney
Remember that your dreams are your seeds of the future. If you imagine yourself in a dream you begin acting on it until it become real.

Let’s begin together and imagine ourselves in the future. Draw our goals and dreams like a small child. Imagine yourself the best person in the world.

You can if you want...

What a Fabulous World!

Bench with panoramic view (by: Christian Adams)

"What fabulous world lay out there far beyond the ice? Was that any place where one small penguin without a heart song could ever truly belong?"
 -Happy Feet Movie

Mumble is a small penguin, born in the land of Emperor Penguins, where each needs a heart song to attract a soul mate. But mumble is the worst singer in the world. However, as it happens, he is a brilliant tap dancer!

Sometimes we face a setback or a tribulation; and we imagine that it won’t pass. We felt that we are broken and we can’t bear any more. The days pass and a strange thing happen. We aren’t so fragile that we have imagined and we have not died from this tribulation; instead we get stronger. So what had happen?

Any obstacle or setback can easily become a turning point in our life, and then we get stronger and stronger. But the question is how this could happen? Simply, it will happen when you have a purpose in life, a dream that ignite your soul.
“Purpose fuels your efforts and gives you the drive to continue, no matter what the challenges."
 -Cynthia Kersey
And to know your purpose in life, ask yourself who am I and why I am here?

Returning to Mumble, He lost his purpose in life although he found another way to survive. He overcomes this obstacle.
So don’t be afraid even if you don’t have a purpose in life or you don’t have a dream. Just ask yourself who am I and why I am here? And you will find an answer.

If you have a dream, don’t be afraid to express it. And if you don’t have a dream, you must make it.

Drop a comment and share your dream with us. Your purpose in life could be a motivation for others. And if you haven’t a dream we can search for a one, we can make it together in this blog.

Don’t be afraid; Live for a purpose; Live Better Life…
